Shero Travel App Android Prototype

To create an Android app prototype designed to connect female travelers who need help with communities of women around the world.

This was my first time creating a mobile app prototype from start to finish, so the main challenge was figuring out what my process was going to be and how I was going to tackle the project on my own within the span of 3 months.

Step 1. Mindmapping

I began by creating an interactive mind map to brainstorm ideas for what kind of app I wanted to make. I crowd sourced some ideas from my pool of Facebook friends and received over 20 ideas. From there, I narrowed them down and collaborate with the Program Chair of Interactive Media Design at Franklin University to pick the best one.

Step 2. Rough Sketching & Brainstorming

During this time, I got all the ideas I had in my head out on paper and started defining the scope of features I wanted to include and how they might be laid out.

Step 3. Interviewing

I went to a conference for Digital Nomads (location independent entrepreneurs) in Berlin, Germany and verbally pitched my app idea to 12 people to see what their suggestions were. This helped me refine my features and gain new insight for the app

Step 4. Design Document

Then, I began working on a formal design document to keep track of all my user research and to begin formulating a plan for the app.

Step 5. Getting Organized

Next, I laid out all the screens I planned to make and added progress labels and notes as I went to keep track.

Step 6. Wireframing

Next, I started fleshing out the wireframes for each screen

Step 7. Adding Interactions

After I had my rough wireframes created, I began researching and adding more interactions to get the app up and running

Step 8. Functionality Testing

Device was tested on Chrome on desktop, and on a Moto X Android Phone

Step 9. UI Design

Branding and graphics created for the user interface
